Anomaly Story
.Roughly a dozen years ago, a forest fire broke out in the mountains near Hethereau. The flames spread with alarming speed, making the situation extremely difficult to control. At the same time, abnormal fluctuations in the Wertheimer Index were detected within the fire zone, making any reckless entry potentially dangerous. Just as the firefighters found themselves unable to advance or retreat, they saw a giant vine rise from the center of the burning area. What followed was a localized downpour that lasted more than ten hours. The fire was extinguished in time, but the rain was so heavy that the forest became marshland. After extensive experiments and research, scholars determined that the giant vine had been formed by many smaller vines of the same kind winding together and expanding. The vine-like Anomaly that had rendered such great service during the fire was therefore collectively named R-2340[Or], also known as "Weather Vine."
As its name suggests, Weather Vine can alter the weather in a small area according to its own condition. The fastest way to distinguish it from ordinary vines is to check whether one or more drop-shaped blue "Vine Pearls" grow on its tendrils. When it senses a lack of water, Weather Vine disregards the local geography and causes rain to fall in the surrounding area to water itself. Researchers found that the plant rapidly expands when burned by flame, increasing the range over which it can alter the weather. However, this behavior is undoubtedly devastating to Weather Vine itself. After the forest fire mentioned above, the giant Weather Vine gradually returned to its original size, but the exhausted plants permanently lost their Vine Pearls and became no different from ordinary vines. Some even withered away. Around those dried vines, however, people found new plants quietly taking root. This clever Anomaly had used cooperation to withstand disaster and protect the seeds of its group.
Weather Vine's remarkable ability allows it to survive almost anywhere it can take root. Even in barren places where living creatures are rarely seen, traces of its green can still be found. For this reason, Weather Vine has become a top choice for beginners interested in growing potted plants. After all, who wouldn't want a few evergreen plants on their balcony that never need watering? However, before raising one, be sure to report it to the local Bureau of Anomaly Control office and the fire department.
Anomaly Characteristics
·Weather Vine is a vine-like Anomaly that can alter the weather in a small area based on its own condition. Its tendrils grow one or more drop-shaped blue "Vine Pearls." When it senses a lack of water, it disregards the local geography and causes rain to fall nearby.
When burned by flame, it rapidly expands to increase the range of rainfall. However, if the rain lasts too long, Weather Vine will lose its "Vine Pearls" afterward and become no different from an ordinary vine.
Anomaly Nexus
Continuous burning by flame.
Risk Assessment
Basically harmless.
Containment-Guarantee Status
Three specimens are contained at the Celaeno Compound.
Containment Measures
Plant Weather Vine in a containment unit with ample soil and sunlight.
Experiment Records
Experiment 1:
Researchers cut off a Weather Vine tendril bearing a "Vine Pearl," then burned both the section with the "Vine Pearl" and the remaining section. The section with the "Vine Pearl" could still produce rain in its surroundings, while the other showed no response. Conclusion: the "Vine Pearl" is the key organ that allows Weather Vine to alter the weather.
Experiment 2:
Researchers attempted to separate the "Vine Pearl" from the main body. However, once removed from the vine, the "Vine Pearl" immediately evaporated, making further experiments impossible for now.
