Ghostly Kite

That night, like always, I was on my rooftop, taking in Hethereau's skyline. Suddenly, an orange kite appeared, hanging midair, backlit by the city lights.

I thought to myself, "If I were that kite, I could probably see all of Hethereau from that height…"

The thought flitted through my mind, and before I even registered what I was doing, my body jumped off the edge of the roof: I didn't fall, however… I had actually grabbed onto the kite in midair. The kite maneuvered through the sky as if I were as light as a feather.

"Hethereau really is breathtaking…" I whispered to myself.

At that moment, something lightly brushed my shoulder. I turned my head to look; it turned out to be the streamer trailing behind the kite—at some point, it had gotten tangled in the wind. Lit up by the city's neon lights, I noticed two dark spots and a twisted arc that had, at some point, emerged on the kite's fabric. It bore an uncanny resemblance to a human face. Straight after, the tip of the kite's streamer clutched onto my shoulder, like a pseudo-hand, with brutal force. The markings on the kite began to warp and stretch, forming a bizarre face that cackled hideously: "Heehee!"

"H-help… Help me!"

Without thinking straight, I let go of the kite, forgetting I was still thousands of feet in the sky. Just as I braced myself to become a contemporary art piece on the pavement, there was a violent tug on my wrist. That same streamer that had initially gripped my shoulder was now tightly wrapped around my wrist. Fearing the worst, I grabbed onto the streamer and held on for dear life. At that moment, something even crazier occurred: The eerie face and behavior of the kite were wiped away entirely. Its maniacal laughter also stopped. Instead, the gentle sound of the wind was all that filled my ears. The kite no longer flew erratically or tried to scare me. Rather, it continued to softly glide through the sky.

"Can… can you take me back?" I asked tentatively.

The kite fluttered tenderly, as if nodding its head. Following my guidance, the kite wove through the towering buildings and high-rises before finally bringing me safely back to the rooftop I was standing on previously. The moment my feet touched solid ground, the kite streamer lingered in my hand, as if reluctant to let go. Eventually, it slipped away from my palm and flew off. I turned my head to watch it gradually fly off into the distance. For a fleeting moment, I had believed that the kite was entirely ordinary, nothing more.

The above constitutes an oral testimony of an anonymous passerby who encountered R-4205(Ob) Ghostly Kite.

Perhaps the Ghostly Kite isn't as evil as previously believed. Its frightening facial expressions and gestures were, maybe, a clumsy way of seeking attention. When its streamers were held tightly by human hands, it might have felt a subtle feeling of human connection. In that "connected" state, the Ghostly Kite might actually serve as a reliable air transport vehicle.

· An Anomaly that tends to partake in mischief and trickery. Typically, it disguises itself as an ordinary kite, but once a human gets close, the kite's "face" distorts into a mocking expression, letting out a high-pitched cackle.

· The tail streamers seemingly possess tremendous strength. Observers have claimed that it has extreme dexterity and strength, and the ability to fly through the air at high speeds.

· However, if physical contact is made with a human, all mischievous or aggressive behavior immediately ceases, and the kite instead becomes obedient and compliant.

Initiate physical contact to establish a "connection" with the kite.
