Elements and the Esper Cycle
How the six elements relate on the Esper Cycle and how to exploit them in combat.
In-game sourced
Combat in Neverness to Everness revolves around six elements arranged on the Esper Cycle: Incantation, Chaos, Anima, Cosmos, Psyche, and Lakshana. Understanding how they interact is the difference between grinding a fight down and ending it quickly.
Why the cycle matters
Every Esper and most monsters carry an element. Matching the right element against a target lets you break its resistance faster and apply elemental reactions, while attacking into a resistance wastes your damage. Because you run a party of three, you can carry more than one element into a fight and pivot the moment an enemy’s weakness becomes clear.
Building around elements
- Cover spread, not stacking. A trio with three different elements adapts to almost any encounter.
- Lean into a theme for tough fights. When you know a boss’s weakness, doubling on its weak element maximizes burst.
- Swap to trigger reactions. Following one element’s hit with another can chain elemental effects for bonus damage.
Practical reading of the cycle
Think of the Esper Cycle as a wheel of relationships rather than a flat list. Each element answers another, so the skill is recognizing the matchup fast and switching Espers to the answer. Spend your early hours noticing which elements melt which enemy types, and you will read encounters at a glance later on.
