Anomaly Story

The garden of the Serenetti family was once a place of elegance and solemnity, and like the rest of the family, was shrouded in the patriarch's strict rules. These rules regulated every aspect of his children's behavior, molding them into tools for the family's glory who appeared harmonious on the surface but harbored no true affection for one another. In his later years, the patriarch was bedridden with illness. His children returned to the garden, not to visit him, but to quarrel endlessly over their inheritance. The aging, powerless patriarch had lost control over his family, as siblings turned against each other, making a mockery of the once orderly family. Sharp words and underhanded schemes shattered the garden's silence. They made no effort to hide their disgust and resentment toward their powerless father, who had oppressed them their entire lives. The elderly patriarch was heartbroken, and a dark thought began to take root:

"If only these kids could be as quiet and dignified as plants and flowers."

And so, silence once again descended upon the garden. The venomous words fell silent, but the malice did not cease. Instead, it nourished the greenery within the garden. The patriarch had hoped these plants would help his children understand the beauty of order and obedience, but this was merely wishful thinking. That endless malice was transformed, becoming sharp thorns, toxic pollen, and twisted vines. The children imprisoned in this garden their whole lives continued their silent attacks on one another, while also turning their new weapons against the one responsible for it all: their father. In the end, the patriarch died from pollen poisoning, and his children fell silent one by one. The peace he had longed for his entire life returned to his garden in a way he never imagined.

The Silent Garden is a Location Anomaly that has taken over the former site of the Serenetti garden. Since its emergence, the Serenetti garden has effectively been abandoned. Although ownership still passes among the family's few remaining descendants, no one is willing to return to claim this cursed land. The garden is overrun by wildly spreading vegetation, and for most of the time, the Silent Garden remains dormant. However, when a creature capable of speech becomes the Gardener, the entire Anomaly activates. Within the Silent Garden, the Gardener's words are erased and muffled, and the garden responds to the erased words by growing various plants to decorate itself.

The plants in the Silent Garden share many similarities with normal plants. For example, they are drawn to sunlight and can perform photosynthesis, though none of the nutrients produced ever benefit the Gardener in the slightest. The plants in the garden become more active and aggressive during the day, thriving in the abundant sunlight. Therefore, investigations and patrols of the Silent Garden should be conducted at night whenever possible. When the garden is active, precautionary measures should also be taken after nightfall.

The creation of a Gardener does not seem to be entirely related to the individual's will. Those who wish to control the garden may find their efforts in vain, but curious passersby may be unwittingly captured by the garden. The Silent Garden does not act according to the Gardener's wishes, disregarding the Gardener's original intentions, as plants that grow will always possess a malicious nature. When outsiders disturb the silence of this land, these plants will attack to drive away intruders. At the same time, these plants drain the Gardener's life away, converting it into nourishment for themselves. It is like a reenactment of that absurd scene from years ago: the head of the family bound by the rules he obsessed over his entire life, while his children did as they pleased, coveting his inheritance, ultimately taking his life.

These plants will strip the Gardener of their ability to speak, aiming to keep the garden eternally silent. However, if the Gardener overcomes the restraints through sheer willpower and breaks the garden's silence with their voice, the garden is likely to become dormant once more. Yet under the garden's powerful restraints, with the Gardener's life dwindling by the day, how can they possibly find their voice?

If you bury seeds of belladonna and aconite in the soil, no matter how carefully you tend them, no matter how beautiful the plants that grow, you cannot change the deadly poison in their nature. The one who started it all suppressed speech in this silent garden, demanded etiquette, grounded down individuality, and treated family members as mere garden ornaments, stubbornly believing this would make the family a model for others. But the peace and harmony he pursued his entire life ultimately shrouded the garden in eternal silence, leaving behind only abandonment, disorder, and oblivion…

Anomaly Characteristics

· Usually dormant. Becomes active when a creature capable of speech becomes the Gardener.

· When active, it strips the Gardener of their speech and vitality, converting them into aggressive plants within the garden.

· Plants in the garden prioritize enforcing the rule of silence and driving away noisy intruders.

· Plants in the garden are drawn to light like normal plants. Nighttime is relatively safer.

Anomaly Nexus

Eliminate or rescue the Gardener, or the Gardener breaks the garden's silence with words. Note that even if the Silent Garden enters dormancy as a result, it may reactivate if a new Gardener emerges.

Risk Assessment

Harmless in dormant state. Poses a moderate threat when activated by a Gardener. Threat range is limited to the area around the garden.

Containment-Guarantee Status

The garden is private property belonging to the descendants of the Serenetti family. Containment or demolition cannot be implemented due to this. Currently, only regular patrols are maintained.
