Anomaly Story

Once upon a time, there was an ancient kingdom. Though not particularly powerful, it was led by a devout monarch and its people were loyal. The kingdom held great wealth earned through hard work, stored in a temple, where the kingdom prayed that the God they worshipped would protect their property. Even when enemies brought war to their lands, they still held onto this hope. The king prayed to the divine: since these enemies came for the kingdom's wealth, let them be buried here along with it. Soon after, the king fell to the blade, and the conquerors opened the temple gates, greedily filling their bags with gold, silver, and jewels. They excitedly prepared to leave the temple, only to find that the exit had vanished! The entire army had become trapped within a vast labyrinth. They marched with their expensive treasures, then grew hungry and thirsty. Inevitable infighting and slaughter followed, until finally, they fell silent alongside the treasures they could never take with them. Many years later, this city's ruins, buried in history, were discovered by an expedition sponsored by Ebisu Auction House…

The above is the Story of Nantanì, as told by Ebisu Auction House. Of course, everyone knows Ebisu has always been good at story marketing, otherwise they wouldn't have made such a splash in the auction industry. Back to the Anomaly itself: U-7006(Lo) Nantanì appears as a floating creature wearing a green, semi-transparent cloak, looking just like a ghost. As you are reading this profile, you might have probably noticed that Nantanì is classified as a Location Anomaly. That would be a good observation, as the truth is Nantanì's true nature is an area rather than a being. The Nantanì we see is more like an avatar the Anomaly created for easier communication.

Nantanì's ability is to establish entry and exit rules for the domain it influences. According to Ebisu Auction House's design, any attempt to remove collection items from their contained positions through illegitimate means violates Nantanì's rules. Once the rules are broken, the entire auction venue becomes affected by Nantanì's power and cannot be exited until the rules are satisfied again. Under the influence of Nantanì's rules, escape is meaningless. No matter how you try to flee, you will eventually return to where you started. Attacking Nantanì is also meaningless, since, as mentioned earlier, Nantanì's true nature is an area, and attacking the visible green spirit has no effect whatsoever. Stalling for time is even more pointless, because Ebisu's security personnel aren't fools. The moment Nantanì's rules are triggered, they're already on the move.

When theft occurs, Nantanì will appear before the violator shortly after its power takes effect, demanding they return the collection items. If an Anomaly that should be contained ascends past containment, Nantanì will also use its power to control the disaster and protect auction guests, while guiding those capable of re-containing the Anomaly to do so. Within Nantanì's domain, it has the ability to open teleport channels, allowing rapid movement across obstacles. This sounds like the perfect security measure… No wonder Ebisu Auction House trusts Nantanì so much.

Even with all these conveniences, Nantanì's power is not without flaws. Its target is an area rather than individuals, which means when its power activates, everyone gets trapped inside until the rules are satisfied again. What happens if the rules can't be satisfied? Well… my mind wanders to those enemy soldiers who starved to death in Nantanì's labyrinth in the story… Let's hope no one exploits this weakness to cause any trouble…

Containment Measures

When no auction is being held, Nantanì resides in a room Ebisu Auction House has prepared for it, commonly called the temple. Ebisu keeps the interior layout of the temple strictly confidential. It is said to be filled with numerous treasures discovered alongside Nantanì.
