Anomaly Story

There was once a famous clown named Lar. Every show he appeared in was packed to the rafters, and audiences were always moved by his hilarious performances and witty jokes, laughing until they doubled over. However, after his final performance before retirement, he was found dead in the backstage dressing room. He sat quietly in his chair, as if he had simply fallen asleep. His mask had melted into a pool of black liquid, and his true face bore no comical smile, only the tired, pale features of an aging man… A subsequent investigation revealed that his life had been filled with countless misfortunes, so much so that he had long grown weary of living. Yet he persisted in performing, for the smiles of his audience were the only remedy for his bitter existence. That melted mask became the first Anomaly known as "Lar," a name given in memory of that performer.

N-0502(Ob) Lar is an Anomaly occasionally found backstage at comedy venues. It appears as a pool of viscous black liquid, with every instance of Lar measures exactly 502 milliliters. Lar can be stored in any sealed container that can hold it, though to avoid accidents, containers of at least 1 liter capacity are recommended. Gloves should be worn when handling Lar to avoid direct skin contact. Upon contact with human skin, Lar will climb from the point of contact and spread across the user's body, which can look somewhat alarming, though the process is harmless. Users may feel a slight tightness on their skin, but once Lar has fully covered the user, they can adjust their appearance, voice, and even alter their body shape and physical features through mental visualization. We strongly recommend using a mirror as an aid. Please do not go outside with a terrifying face. After approximately 2 hours, the Lar covering the user's skin will gradually peel off and return to its liquid state, and the disguise will disappear along with it.

Some users claim that using Lar has a subtle influence on the mind. Users may develop tendencies toward theatrical personalities, attention-seeking behavior, risk-taking, and uncontrollable actions, along with a reduced sense of shame. There is no proof that these effects are caused by Lar, but we have slightly raised its potential hazard rating and are monitoring the effects of long-term use.

Smile! Even a fake smile can be medicine for the soul.

Risk Assessment

Harmless.

Containment-Guarantee Status

Most specimens are contained at Celaeno Compound. Guarantees are permitted. A small number circulate among the public.

Containment Measures

When not in use, store in any sealed container with a capacity over 1 liter. Letting it bask in the sun occasionally can make it seem less gloomy, but this is not necessary.
