Anomaly Story
R-4321-1[Ob], or the "Helm of Theseus," looks no different from any other weathered, battered ship's wheel after years of storms. The origin of its existence is unknown. It is believed to have appeared in the same Anomalous Realm when the Corridor of Echoes was created. Obeying the will of the Dimension Visitor, this worn-out wheel carries out its duty, like a clock running in reverse, guiding the vessel ever backwards into the past.
For the dreamwalkers in the Corridor, the Helm of Theseus is the very law of their world and everything they could ever wish for. It brings them happiness, peace, and a pain that will never arrive. With a beautiful past to lose themselves in, why would they ever need to face a future filled with uncertainty? Here, they can smooth over old scars with sweet dreams, forgetting the memories that brought them sorrow one at a time. They can cast aside all cumbersome emotions and fill their bodies with joy. At least, this is what the Dimension Visitor believes in, as the Visitor guides those who have suffered similar fates and those who long to break free of their chains, onto this drifting, restless solitary vessel.
It is only human nature to romanticize the memories of the past as a way to push back against the cruelties of life. However, blindly following the guidance of the Helm of Theseus like the dreamwalkers, becoming a part of the past, may not be the foolproof choice it seems. Dreams are called dreams precisely because we will eventually wake up. What's more, since both the Helm and the Corridor stem from the will of the Dimension Visitor, what would become of those affected by them, if one day, that will wavered and shifted? To where, then, would the Corridor and the Helm of Theseus carry its passengers?
——Updated Records——
The Corridor has collapsed, and the Helm now exists beyond the Corridor, having fallen into the possession of the Scarlet Letter, location unknown.
