Anomaly Story

Sometime ago, a train pulled into an underground station that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere on the outskirts of the city. Its model matched an old railcar series Hethereau retired years ago, but it had no train number, and its interior designs were unlike anything that had been produced prior. The most noticeable detail of the train was its eerie blue glow, which inevitably led to its name: the "Ghost Train".

For the most part, the Ghost Train is entirely harmless. In fact, it was ignored entirely when it first appeared. However, this changed when a famous urban explorer, Karen Wilde, launched a campaign named the "Ghost Train Dare", encouraging young daredevils and thrillseekers to camp in the station overnight to prove their fearlessness. Eventually, one young explorer attempted to board the train. His friends watched as the conductorless railcar suddenly awakened, rolled out of the station, and then, a while later, returned—noticeably without the young explorer it had left with initially. That single disappearance was enough to kick the BAC into action, leading to the lockdown of the "Ghost Train Station".

When the Bureau began studying the Ghost Train's characteristics, an owl-shaped Oddity suddenly fluttered out of the empty conductor's cab. According to this Oddity, otherwise known as Miss Levi, the Ghost Train wants something very simple: a desire to deliver passengers to their destination. After a full round of tests, experiments, and verification, the Bureau of Anomaly Control reached a conclusion: the Ghost Train did indeed wish to resemble the common metro.

After extensive safety measures were placed, the BAC eventually decided to open the Ghost Train to the public. Alongside the Zerogon Laboratory and the Ghost Train (represented by Miss Levi, the Conductor), the BAC drafted the Passenger Manual to ensure passenger safety. Any traveler who wishes to take the Ghost Train must adhere to and fully understand the Passenger Manual and pass the Ghost Train Qualification Exam at the Bureau.

The Ghost Train does not discriminate when allowing passengers aboard. It runs diligently around the clock, and always arrives almost instantaneously at the station whenever a passenger steps onto the platform. Since the train runs through the Anomalous Realm, it will sometimes mistakenly appear at the wrong station, dropping bewildered passengers off at places swarming with Surge Anomalies, which is the probable reason for the many earlier disappearances.

Miss Levi does not condone any behavior from Anomaly Hunters purposefully trying to arrive at the wrong station, and, out of a deep respect for professionalism, assists any passengers who "accidentally" end up in the wrong place. All in all, the safety of the Ghost Train, due to the BAC's efforts, has been increased considerably. Nowadays, the Ghost Train can be considered a fast, uncrowded method of traveling around the city.

Anomaly Characteristics

· The Ghost Train is a retro railcar, with its entire body shrouded in a blue glow. It doesn't require any physical tracks; instead, it opens an Anomalous Realm and travels within it.

Because of this, the Ghost Train may occasionally drop passengers off at the wrong station.

· Surprisingly, the Ghost Train exhibits both determined and stubborn behavior patterns. Records show it refusing to assist passengers who violate the Passenger Manual.

· Whenever a Wednesday lands on the same day as a full moon, the train will suspend all service for maintenance.

· Possibly due to the Train Conductor being a bird-type Oddity, the Ghost Train tends to avoid any cat-like passengers.

Therefore, as a rule, all feline animals, Oddities, or Espers with feline traits are advised not to board.

Risk Assessment

As long as the Passenger Manual is followed and the train is used normally, the Ghost Train is harmless.

Containment Status:

Guaranteed by the Bureau of Anomaly Control. As an officially certified anomalous transit service, it is open for public use to all citizens of Hethereau.

Containment Procedures:

No containment procedures required.

Experiment Records

To verify the accuracy of the Ghost Train Passenger Manual, Zerogon Laboratory designed targeted experiments for each rule. Only a small excerpt is recorded in this log. To access the full log, please submit a request to Zerogon Laboratory.

Experiment 17

Corresponding rule: Section 6 of the Ghost Train Passenger Manual: "Except on suspension days, whenever a passenger is waiting on the platform, the Ghost Train will arrive within one minute".

Objective: Verify how the Ghost Train responds to waiting passenger behavior.

Method:

On a non-suspension day, multiple test groups were arranged on the same platform for comparison:

· Group I: 1 Passenger, normally waiting on the platform;

· Group II: no humans, only a humanoid dummy placed in a waiting posture;

· Group III: 1 Passenger present, but instead of waiting at a fixed point, they walk repeatedly around the station;

· Group IV: 1 Passenger in a waiting posture on the platform, but silently and repeatedly thinking negative phrases such as "I don't need to ride" and "The train isn't coming."

The observers recorded whether the Ghost Train arrived, its arrival time, and whether the doors opened.

Results:

With test subjects from Groups I, III, and IV present, the train arrived within one minute;

Group II did not trigger any response;

In Group IV, although the train arrived, its doors never opened.

Conclusion:

The Ghost Train's judgment of "a passenger is waiting" is based on the passenger's actual presence and a recognized intention to board. Whether that intention is valid has nothing to do with outward behavior. The exact method by which the Ghost Train confirms a Passenger's intent still requires further study.
