Anomaly Story

A product of ours that rose to prominence alongside the rapid development of the internet.

Surely many of us have had this experience: you just wanted to watch a quick video online to relax, but before you knew it, the whole night was gone in the blink of an eye! All the plans you had, everything you meant to get done, completely wasted by your newfound lack of energy.

Doomscroll often lurks among these rolls. Viewers have their attention captured in mere seconds, maintaining a state of complete focus until the video ends, usually never noticing anything unusual. They might not even realize they had just watched an Anomaly video! After all, losing two or three minutes to Doomscroll or rolls on Bagel doesn't seem like much of a loss. Everyone has plenty of time to spare.

However, Doomscroll has recently attracted attention and sparked heated discussion online. For unknown reasons, recently trending videos have become far longer than before, ranging from three to four hours on the short end to dozens of hours at most. Being locked in front of a screen by an Anomaly video for that long is hardly comfortable, and some have even missed important matters, resulting in severe consequences. Calls for the Bureau of Anomaly Control to step in and stop the spread of such videos have been growing louder.

The Bureau has reportedly begun addressing this issue, but due to troublemakers fanning the flames and secretly spreading these videos disguised as something else, completely eliminating Doomscroll's negative effects has proven far more difficult than expected. On a positive note, there has been some progress in solving the mystery of the sudden increase in video length. Evidence of deliberate editing and splicing has been found in the excessively long videos.

The Bureau of Anomaly Control urges everyone not to click on links of unknown origin, and to plan their daily screen time reasonably to reduce the chances of falling into the Doomscroll trap.

Anomaly Characteristics

· Refers to a series of inexplicable videos with unknown creators, varying lengths, and their diverse topics of content. Their common link is that these videos are extremely captivating.

· By captivating, we mean viewers often have their attention seized within mere seconds and become deeply absorbed. In the early stages of having attention captured by Doomscroll (generally within the first minute of watching), one can still break free through sheer willpower. Though, once absorbed for too long, one can no longer escape voluntarily. Absorbed viewers become oblivious to everything around them, watching with complete focus until the video ends. Viewers have described afterward that even though the video has finished playing, their consciousness feels as if it's still trapped in the virtual world on the other side of the screen, unable to escape that state of mind for quite some time.

· Every so often, new Doomscroll videos emerge on social media, spread widely, then quickly fade from attention, in an endless cycle.

Anomaly Nexus

The video itself. Currently, the only way to end the state of capture is to watch the complete video.

Risk Assessment

Requires case-by-case analysis. Since people have gradually grown accustomed to having their attention stolen by trending videos (not necessarily Doomscroll) from time to time, tolerance for Doomscroll's effects has been surprisingly high.
